Cypress Integrated Systems
IMail Server delivers even under the toughest conditions
Cypress Integrated Systems, rooted in South Carolina, is a mail systems integrator that implements e-mail services for clients with heavy mail traffic and provides consulting services to ISPs and ASPs. Cypress offers network system consulting and solutions to clients large and small, from mutual fund companies to wireless service providers to hardware manufacturers. Their client base has grown to include a number of Fortune 100 companies and the Cypress reputation continues to flourish. Cypress Chief Technologist Sandy Whiteman credits this steady growth to the outstanding products and services they recommend, especially Ipswitch’s IMail Server. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of systems and networking, Whiteman says, “It’s my job to prepare proposals that include a high level of strategic analysis and tactical recommendations. When I put my name on a proposal, I have to be confident in everything that goes into it and be able to trust the products to perform.”
Whether he’s building from the ground up or overhauling an existing system, the first item on Whiteman’s list of optimizations is IMail Server. His rationale: Nobody can afford to be without reliable email. And nobody can afford to waste money.
“When the earliest version of IMail was introduced in the mid 1990s, it was the only application in its niche that we found to be stable,” explains Whiteman. “And it’s even better today. Ipswitch has an excellent track record of releasing stable IMail versions. In fact, years later, there are people still running the original IMail version 4. That’s unheard of in the software business.”
As business needs change, so does IMail. Ipswitch’s version of IMail Server has an outbound mail-filtering feature that lets companies scan outbound messages for spam, viruses, and inappropriate content. It also lets network administrators establish complex rules for outbound e-mail similar to the rules already available for filtering inbound e-mail. IMail Server 7.1 includes support for 128-bit encryption and an improved administration interface with drop-down menus and checkboxes that make it easier to customize the software. Whiteman already has migrated his 15-person company to IMail Server 7.1, and he expects his customers who use IMail to transition to the new version, too.
Over the years, Whiteman has recommended Ipswitch software to all clients, especially those with limited purchasing power. “Apparently there’s a misconception that software has to be expensive to be good. I’ve encountered situations where people cannot believe that this software can do what it claims for the price. I assure them it’s true, but if they want to spend more, I recommend they buy two copies.”
Because of its reliability and customer support, IMail keeps the lines of communications open and reduces downtime that can lead to immeasurable losses. “We won’t get rich recommending IMail, but I’m rewarded by establishing a trusting relationship with clients,” said Whiteman. “When the time comes for projects that encompass a larger scope than just e-mail, we have the advantage because we’ve done the right thing from the beginning...not to mention that IMail is usually a better fit than anything else that exists.”
