In today’s competitive marketplace, IT departments are under more pressure than ever before. To maintain increasingly complex systems and infrastructures with static or shrinking budgets, the IT department must do more with less. In an effort to drive out costs, many businesses have implemented emerging technologies, such as virtualization, to help streamline and simplify the management of their IT resources.
Such solutions do indeed offer the potential for cost reductions, but only at the expense of a radical and complex overhaul of the infrastructure. This makes it somewhat surprising that only relatively few businesses have so far identified a much easier and less painful method of reducing their IT expenditure: namely, replacing their email system with a less costly and more manageable solution.
